Backyard S’mores Party Ideas

It’s crazy to think that the summer is just a few weeks away from being over, and even harder to think about how this time last year, I was designing a party idea board for a backyard movie party under the stars. With today being National S’more’s Day, I thought it would be appropriate to add a new party idea board to our growing collection of summertime celebration themes. Why not combine a movie night under the stars with a s’mores campfire session? Seems like the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.

Here’s what I had in mind for this backyard s’mores party idea board:

Summertime Watermelon Party Ideas

Happy National Watermelon Day! August 3rd marks National Watermelon Day each year, did you know that? It’s ok if you didn’t, neither did I. When I found out about it, I was instantly inspired to create the perfect summertime watermelon party idea board for you this week. Whether it’s for a kid’s birthday party, or a backyard BBQ with friends and family, you can’t go wrong with a watermelon theme. The cool, watercolor hues of a natural watermelon are easy on the eyes during the heat of the summer, while the refreshing fruit and juices of the watermelon itself are delicious to consume in a host of different ways.

End of Summer Dinner Party Soiree in Berry Hues

Yes, I realize that TECHNICALLY summer isn’t over for a few more weeks. But you know what? It’s hot. It’s realllllly hot here in Florida. Low to mid-90s, high humidity, all sunshine, minimal rain. It’s brutal. So to take my mind off the heat, I thought about what I would do to make the most of this weekend, leading me into this week’s party ideas board. I was thinking how great it would be to have a beautiful patio, with nice rich shades of dark purples and plums. This fairytale patio would be the perfect setting for my end of summer, dinner party soiree.  Delicious berries would be the highlight of the menu. From cool drinks to sweet treats, a hint of berry could be found throughout the evening. Simple centerpieces near a vibrant, living wall of succulents with candlelight shimmering from hanging lanterns, would just make for a wonderful evening among friends and family. While I’m waving my magic wand to dream this up, I throw in an extra swish and flick to get a personal chef who would prepare this meal. Oh and a helpful staff that would help tidy up after!

Ultimate Pokémon Party Ideas

Pika Pika!

By now there is no doubt you’ve heard of the phenomena that is Pokémon Go. It’s done more for the US obesity epidemic in one week then what presidential efforts have done in decades. This game is taking the world by storm, with users all over getting up and moving around in hunt for their next Pokémon catch, and I can’t blame them! Pokémon has been a long time favorite game of mine since I was younger. I played up through the gold/silver days on Gameboy. If you’re not sure what that means – well it pretty much means I am a fan of the original 151.

But enough nerd talk, we’ve got an exciting board to get to! This week I’ve put together some of my most absolute FAVORITE party ideas I’ve seen thus far. I’d reckon in the future I’ll have to update this as more and more ideas pop up, but for now, I think kids everywhere will enjoy the Pokémon party ideas I’ve put together for this week’s inspiration board. And to clarify, when I say kids, I mean tiny humans and grown adults like myself that still love their Pikachu. Or Charamander in my case. And Jigglypuff. And Sandshrew. Oh and can’t forget Eevee. You know what, I need to stop or I’ll be here for a while, and there are Pokémon to be caught out there!

Coastal Christmas Holiday Party

I don’t want to alarm you, but there’s roughly 165 days till Christmas!

I know, I know. We JUST had the Fourth of July. How could I possibly be thinking about Christmas?

And you know WHY I’m thinking of Christmas? Because I absolutely love the idea of hosting a Christmas in July party. Being a native Floridian, it’s hard to really wrap your head around the “white Christmas” where everyone is snuggled up by the fire. We’re usually happy if 85 is the high for the day. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a spectacular Christmas with beautiful decor!

This week I’ve taken on a challenge: to improve on my original tropical Christmas from ages ago. Back in 2012 when I was just starting to put together these party idea boards, I shared this Tropical Christmas Dinner Party. At the time, I of course thought it was great, and everything went together. Now, I look at it and see many ways to improve.

My 2016 take on this theme is create an elegant and beautiful coastal Christmas holiday party. Soft hues of blue with creamy whites, textures of shells, and strategically chic accents. What a clarified version of the same thought!

Here’s what I had in mind for the seaside beach Christmas party:

Modern Orange and Citrus Summer Party

It’s hard to believe that 3 years ago I shared my “Lemon and Lime” summer dinner party on my original blog, A Sparkly Life for Me. I almost had forgotten about it until I was scrolling through my master wedding and party ideas Pinterest board. When I saw that original post, I was drawn back to when I was dreaming up all the possibilities. Originally, it had crossed my mind to do a general citrus party, with all sorts of varieties and colors included. I shortly thereafter realized that there were far too many ideas out there that I wanted to incorporate, and not enough time in the world to narrow down my top choices for just one board. I’m sure at the time I thought I would do the other citrus that didn’t fit the lemon or lime ballot later….. but I’ve just had too many other good ideas I wanted to share it seems!

Now, years later, I’m pleased to share with you this modern take on a citrus inspired summer party. I did not want to use TOO much of the expected orange slices, but rather, keep them as accents to the overall look. Here’s what I had in mind for this modern orange and citrus summer party idea board:

Rockets and Ribbons – Patriotic 4th of July Party Ideas

Can you believe that the 4th of July is less than a month away?

With all of the tragic events that have occurred in our country in the last week, especially in Orlando, I felt as if it was necessary to create an inspired, red white and blue themed party. As our country mourns the deaths of countless individuals from the Orlando shootings, I think it’s important to highlight our ability to come together as a community, and as a nation.

This week I have created a party idea board for Fourth of July celebrations, with an emphasis for family friendly festivities. It’s so important for our country to come together and rejoice in the many freedoms we are fortunate to have, especially in times like these. This family-centered patriotic party idea board has two elements I’m quite fond of: rocket fireworks and free flowing ribbons!

I loved seeing so many great takes on fireworks as party décor, that I just knew I had to incorporate them in this week’s party idea board. To balance out their straight, rigid lines, I’ve brought in free flowing ribbons in red, white, and blue to soften the design.

Here’s what I had in mind:

Golden Pineapple – Summer Party Ideas

What a colorful summer it’s been, here on the blog! I’ve been loving the combination of vibrant summery hues with strong golds lately. If you were to take a look at some of my most recent posts, you’d see all the color I’ve been incorporating in all sorts of interesting elements for each event.

This week I thought I would combine gold (in the form of golden pineapples) with bold summer hues, with a touch of elegance by incorporating black and white stripes. While it sounds like a lot, I actually think the trio is quite impressive together. There’s something about each of these elements that balances the other out, so as to not let any one element overly dominate the design. This themed party could be used for summer wedding receptions, birthday parties, or even just a fun night with friends and family. Lots of great options!

Since I could probably go on and on about how intriguing I find incorporating golden pineapples as party décor, I’d rather have you see what I had in mind. Here’s what I’m thinking for this week’s party idea board:

Wine Glass Painting Party Ideas {for National Wine Day}

In honor of National Wine Day, May 25, I present to you this party idea and inspiration board, full of wine themed party décor. I envision this party theme being used for a birthday party, or perhaps a bachelorette party, where lots of wine is enjoyed, and there is plenty of good spirited company around to celebrate with. A wine glass painting party should be in a comfortable area, where people are free to roam about and mingle as their work is drying, and they can nibble on finger foods as they walk about and enjoy the creation of their fellow guests.

For this wine glass painting party, here’s what I had in mind:

Eclectic and Colorful Mother’s Day Party Ideas

Bright and bold, full of sunny colors and vibrant accents, this week’s party idea board is the perfect eclectic mix to celebrate mother’s day this year. Mixed florals and textures combine to create this color heavy summery party inspiration board while still looking cohesive and put together.

The balance is in the black and white accents you see here and there. The white table highlights the bright floral centerpieces, while a black and white background helps amplify the fresh flowers in their summer shades. The flat black and white elements really work well together to help make the mix of textures and colors stand out.

What other type of celebration could you see a colorful design like this featured?
