Is it too much to ask for a summertime party that is colorful, doesn’t look cheesy, and also doesn’t cost a fortune? I don’t think so! While it’s easy to get swept up in beautiful tropical oasis soirees and exotic paradise island themed parties with all the inspiration on Pinterest, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to have all those specialty plants and decor to make a summertime party that wows. With some imagination, ribbon, streamers, and some string lights, you can create colorful party decor without it looking cheap or overdone. Here’s some ideas to get you started:

Enchanted Evening Garden Party Ideas

Hello, whimsy! This week I am taking a step back away from modern or industrial event decor ideas, and sharing a classic enchanted evening garden party idea board. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of ideas on the internet that are all so magical and enchanted. I’ve picked just a few of my favorite to share with you this week. Given the fact that the options and ideas are limitless, I choose to hone in on elements that I believe to be must haves for any event. To me, these are the make or break elements that really bring your theme from concept to reality.

For example, if you were to throw an enchanted evening garden party, some of the most important elements would be the table decor and the fairy lights. Ideally, a themed invitation and entryway would be incorporated into your design, to help set the mood. And in today’s modern world, a magical photo backdrop to remember the evening by is a must.

Don’t you just love showing up to a wedding or a party and being instantly energized by the vivid colors and pulsating energy produced by the decor and the space? It’s easy to spice up your next soiree by inviting color to your decor design, without turning it into a rainbow painting party (which would also be pretty fun, but I think we’ll save that for another time). Looking for a different theme for children’s birthday parties? Tired of seeing the cowboy or princess party every other weekend? Why not go for something fun and unexplored, and try hosting a science themed birthday party?

Not only is it not something you see in a cookie-cutter box store, but it has lots of opportunity to bring in fun learning and exploration possibilities. It’s getting to be that time of the year again….fundraisers, holiday galas, office parties….invites are starting to flow! With so many celebrations going on, it’s easy for guests to get bored with seeing the same festive looks, or “night in New York” themes. It’s time to suggest something new to the committee! Why not host a once upon a time storybook gala? It’s nothing too modern, so it suits all ages, but it’s whimsical enough to be appropriate for guests of all ages. With the emphasis on incorporating storybooks into this gala concept, the décor focus shifts from a specific storybook theme, to transporting guests to space where any of their favorite storybook can come to life right off the shelf.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Baby Shower

You won’t be seeing any baby blues or pinks in this baby shower idea board! Nope, this week’s party inspiration board is for the mom-to-be that loves to mix things up. Unlike some of my more traditional baby shower themes, this week I present you with a bolder baby shower theme. You’ll find richer hues, darker shades, and of course a few handfuls of gold glitter in this twinkle, twinkle, little star themed baby shower.

This baby shower would be AMAZING on a cool and breezy evening, especially on a back patio or yard, when it’s just a little chilly out. Twinkling lights overhead would make for perfect finishing touches, but if you don’t have the space for it, I wouldn’t worry about it. This unique theme makes this a great concept for year round celebrations.
