Bold Bohemian Wedding in Jewel Tones

Bold, bohemian beautiful. These three b’s perfectly describe the vibe I was feeling for this week’s wedding decor inspiration and ideas board. A breathtaking ceremony framed by intricate, yet modernized stained glass installation, followed by a reception filled with rich jewel tones and layers of details. Bold, bohemian inspired floral centerpieces with an array of colors make the tables pop. Clusters of mixed wildflowers in colorful vintage glass bottles, paired with assorted jewel tone napkins make for the perfect tablescape. What would make this a spectacularly unique wedding would be the bar. A simple rustic bar with small bottles with wildflowers would be perfect, but it’s what is behind the bar that is special.

Imagine having a wall full of racks, filled to the edge with vintage glassware in all sorts of different shapes, sizes, and colors. As guests refilled their drinks, they were presented a new glass, different from everyone else. Sure, it’s not cheap to rent that many vintage glasses, but the experience and uniqueness is worth it. Bold, bohemian weddings in jewel tones have been done before, but it’s about how you can bring your unique flair into the event that makes it special. Depending on your guest count and timeline, it is possible to amass these vintage glasses at local tag sales and thrift stores for a very reasonable price. If you take the DIY route, consider encouraging guests to take their favorite glass home that evening, as a memento of the special occasion.

Here are my favorite decor ideas for this bold, bohemian wedding in jewel tones:

Once Upon a Time Storybook Gala Ideas

It’s getting to be that time of the year again….fundraisers, holiday galas, office parties….invites are starting to flow! With so many celebrations going on, it’s easy for guests to get bored with seeing the same festive looks, or “night in New York” themes. It’s time to suggest something new to the committee! Why not host a once upon a time storybook gala? It’s nothing too modern, so it suits all ages, but it’s whimsical enough to be appropriate for guests of all ages. With the emphasis on incorporating storybooks into this gala concept, the décor focus shifts from a specific storybook theme, to transporting guests to space where any of their favorite storybook can come to life right off the shelf.

Here’s what I had in mind for this once upon a time storybook gala:

Hobbit Day Woodland Party Ideas

Did you know yesterday was Hobbit Day? Apparently my nerdy-ness level has been down ranked since I just found out about it myself. But you know what? That’s why we have sites like Pinterest, so we can bookmark ideas for future use. With that in mind – I put together this party inspiration board for Hobbit Day 2016 (and beyond!) and all your future Lord of the Rings party needs. Here’s what I had in mind for this outdoor party:

Up Themed Rainbow Wedding Ideas

99.9% of the time, I am not a fan of rainbow anything. No rainbow ice cream, no rainbow ribbons, shirts…. Anything except of course a nice rainbow after a storm.

What’s the .01% rainbow-ness I like? Anything “Up” related. If you missed it, (and seriously, if you have, stop reading this and go watch this movie. Right now.) Up is a Pixar movie that was released a few years ago. Yes it’s animated, and yea I know, cartoons are for kids, but this movie is worth the exception. It is by far one of my most favorite movies of all time.

I’ve had the inkling lately to go watch it again, and I’m waiting for that perfect lazy summer afternoon on the weekend to take advantage of it and watch it again. But it’s been on my mind a lot lately, and it got me thinking: how fun would this be as a summer wedding theme? It’s bright, colorful, and absolutely PERFECT for the couple that wants an outdoor wedding.

Bonus points: there are lots of DIY or cost effective options out there for this theme.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

May the Fourth {Black and White} Star Wars Wedding – Inspiration and Ideas

Happy *ALMOST* May the Fourth!

For those of you who have NO CLUE what I’m talking about, May fourth, also known as May the Fourth, is International Star Wars Day. And if you hadn’t guessed already it’s a play on the quote “May the force be with you”.

I’m a bit of a fan girl myself, so I couldn’t let an opportunity like this pass by. I love alternative and geek weddings, so I knew I had to make one HECK of an inspiration board for this holiday.

I decided to do a play on the colors of Star Wars, the notably black, white and yellow, and turn it into a wedding for the modern fan couple. While there are lots of Star Wars details and elements involved, there are still lots of traditional elements of a wedding, like a cake, floral, etc. that have had a bit of a geeky-god-mother-twist on them.

For example, take a look at the gorgeous wedding ceremony spot I found. It completely looks like Padme Amidala could walk by any moment to head over to the lake. I love the black floral details in it, don’t you?

Let’s take a look at the inspiration in more detail:

Modern & Bright Peacock Wedding Ideas

Modern & Bright Peacock Wedding Ideas

Modern & Bright Peacock Wedding Ideas

Do you love peacock feathers?  I do! They are one of my favorite color combinations. Not to mention they naturally have a shimmer and shine to them. This week’s idea board is for a modern and bright peacock wedding.

Why modern and bright? If you were to do a quick search for “peacock weddings”, you’d see tons of beautiful events shared, but so many of them are so dark! Not intentionally, but the colors that people tend to pick out of the feather usually combine into a rather dark and almost dated look.

For this idea board, I really wanted to focus on the bright and vibrant colors in a traditional peacock feather and have those be the front and center part of the design scheme.  I’d love to see this theme used for a young couple, in the middle of summer, looking for a bunch of color at their wedding, but still keeping it clean and modern looking.

Key details for this event:

  • Don’t over do the peacock feather itself – you don’t need to plaster them on everything!
  • Use pops of colors – pick your top two choices, for this event blue and green, and use the other colors as “pops” throughout the event design
  • Keep it clean – for this to work, you need to keep clean lines, keep thinking modern, and don’t get carried away with the peacock clutter that is so easy to get
