Tropical Backyard Engagement Party

Are you the first person to toast to a good time?

I know I try to stay as upbeat and positive as I can, and never really need a reason to celebrate. But when I do, I like to do it in style! Thinking back on engagement party ideas I’ve done in the past, a lot of them seem very…serious. And when I say serious, I don’t mean the parties are happening in the library. No, I mean more along the lines of: the parties seem like more structured events. That are very official, with a specific start and end time. And an MC could direct the event if need be.

Maybe it’s the summertime sunshine that’s gotten into my brain, (or my cup!) but I’d like to see a more laid back, tropical backyard style, out on the patio engagement party. The vibe is relaxed, great music in the background, and of course….. some tiki torches!

Here’s what I had in mind for this tropical backyard engagement party:

Coastal Christmas Holiday Party

I don’t want to alarm you, but there’s roughly 165 days till Christmas!

I know, I know. We JUST had the Fourth of July. How could I possibly be thinking about Christmas?

And you know WHY I’m thinking of Christmas? Because I absolutely love the idea of hosting a Christmas in July party. Being a native Floridian, it’s hard to really wrap your head around the “white Christmas” where everyone is snuggled up by the fire. We’re usually happy if 85 is the high for the day. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a spectacular Christmas with beautiful decor!

This week I’ve taken on a challenge: to improve on my original tropical Christmas from ages ago. Back in 2012 when I was just starting to put together these party idea boards, I shared this Tropical Christmas Dinner Party. At the time, I of course thought it was great, and everything went together. Now, I look at it and see many ways to improve.

My 2016 take on this theme is create an elegant and beautiful coastal Christmas holiday party. Soft hues of blue with creamy whites, textures of shells, and strategically chic accents. What a clarified version of the same thought!

Here’s what I had in mind for the seaside beach Christmas party:

A Modern Tropical Beach Wedding in Orange

Would you say “I do,” on the beach?

Come get away with me today! We’re going to the beach for a fabulous destination wedding, with a modern vibe and LOTS of vibrant orange accents. All the traditional elements of a beach or destination wedding are included in this week’s wedding idea board, just with more of a modern twist. I opted for a perfect shade of orange that pairs well with the tropical foliage leaves that I’m including sparingly on the tables. Adding dark wood elements on the tables helps to ground the wedding decor, and helps keep it from getting too south beach colorful. Maybe another week!

It’s not a destination wedding to me if there isn’t an abundance of tropical flowers! This week, I’ve made sure to include a variety of flowers with all sorts of different shapes, sizes, and colors. The simple but modern arrangements are all so different, but still highlight the textures and natural beauty of each flower’s natural shape.

Seaside Summer Birthday Party

As we get closer to ending the summer season, I thought it would be nice to share some final inspiration boards that would be perfect for summer. This week I was envisioning a birthday party (though I was torn between turning this into an anniversary party!) around sunset by the sea. The waves are crashing as the sun is setting. The temperatures are cooling down and the drinks are chilled. Relaxing music plays in the background as people mingle barefoot in the sand. Here’s what I had in mind:

What are some of your favorite memories at the beach?

Beach Themed {Poolside} Birthday Party

You know what’s NOT fun? Back to school anything. Every year it seems like kids summers are getting shorter and shorter. This year I saw “back to school” ads as early as June! Some kids are still IN school in June. That is just crazy. I ask you, what is the world coming to?

So what does that have to do with anything? Well, moral of the story is we need to help make summer last! I’d make it a national campaign if I had the funding…… Now I get it, not everyone lives beach side, or has beach worthy weather year round, I get it I do. BUT if the weather is right, I think you could host a beach themed birthday party (or end of summer party) up through August, maybe even early September. And why shouldn’t you really? Think of it as a grand finale, a final sunset if you will, to summer.

Here is my mood board for hosting a party such as this:
