Tropical Backyard Engagement Party

Are you the first person to toast to a good time?

I know I try to stay as upbeat and positive as I can, and never really need a reason to celebrate. But when I do, I like to do it in style! Thinking back on engagement party ideas I’ve done in the past, a lot of them seem very…serious. And when I say serious, I don’t mean the parties are happening in the library. No, I mean more along the lines of: the parties seem like more structured events. That are very official, with a specific start and end time. And an MC could direct the event if need be.

Maybe it’s the summertime sunshine that’s gotten into my brain, (or my cup!) but I’d like to see a more laid back, tropical backyard style, out on the patio engagement party. The vibe is relaxed, great music in the background, and of course….. some tiki torches!

Here’s what I had in mind for this tropical backyard engagement party:

Relaxed Cabin Engagement Party {with a Moose?}

This post is for the SUPER chilled, incredibly relaxed couples who love the mountains. The couple that is most comfortable in jeans and a comfy shirt, and are up for hiking any day. The nature loving couple that doesn’t need all the fluff and formalities, and just wants to ENJOY the moment.

I’m picturing this couple’s engagement party at a beautiful cabin in the woods. It’s chilly out, plenty of snuggling is going on, and warm comfort foods are in abundance. There are fires going, and conversations flowing. Families and friends are meeting and getting to know one another, and everyone is relaxed and having a great time.

Oh, and there are moose accents. That’s right, I said it. Moose ACCENTS. Because who doesn’t love a cute moose cookie? Honestly… what else would you tie this soiree together with? I almost picked bears because they are also high up on my list, but the moose won.

Here’s what I had in mind:

Speckled Blue Egg – Spring Engagement Party Ideas

Good Morning!

Today’s inspiration board is spring inspired! I’ll be honest; I had a tough time with this board. Not the concept, no that was easy, I had a hard time narrowing down the TYPE of event. I really wanted to do a “speckled egg” inspired board. But what type of event to choose? My gut tells me it would be an adorable play on the traditional “love birds” engagement party, especially during the spring time. Other runner up ideas included this as a baby shower, bridal shower, luncheon, and a birthday party. Really the sky is the limit!

Here’s what I had in mind for this theme:

Love Is Sweet – A Cocktails and Sweets Engagement Party

Have you heard the phrase “Love Is Sweet” before? As the rise of themed candy bars grows, so does the popularity of that saying!

Do a quick search for “Love Is Sweet Take A Treat” and you will get MILLIONS of picture results with every color candy bar imaginable. Crazy isn’t it?

I thought: why not take that theme, and go a little bit further?

This week’s inspiration board was for a young, recently engaged couple who are fun loving and want to celebrate their engagement with their family and friends.  They want a relaxed and fun environment where everyone can mingle and chat. So what better way to do that then to have a cocktails and sweet party?

Love Is Sweet – A Cocktails and Sweets Engagement Party

Everyone loves desserts and can’t resist a yummy drink. I went with a light blue, almost turquoise color, paired with a bronze for this idea board, but any color combo you choose would do.

A must have for this type of party is a signature drink, extra points if you can make it match one of your theme colors.

Another must is lots and LOTS of desserts. I tried to get a little of everything in, but the highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be the Ferrero Rocher inspired desserts.

If you REALLY wanted to run with this color scheme, you may want to take a trip to the thrift store. They often have odd mix and match glasses, and I bet you could probably pick up a few blue glasses for your guests to use. Don’t worry, they don’t all have to match, in fact, it’s almost better that way. Everyone will have their own unique glass, and they will help enhance the party’s décor! Win win!

Black + White +Damask Engagement Party Ideas

Remember this cute Halloween costume party I shared a few weeks ago?

I really loved the silhouette accents. I thought for a costume party, silhouettes would be fantastic because they would be adorable décor, but would also not take away from the decked out, dressed up guests. Win-win.

But I got to thinking; you know who else would probably appreciate a party like this? Engaged couples! Think about it, they are there to celebrate their engagement with family and friends, but they still want a festive and decorated vibe.

For this week’s inspiration board, I went with black and white damask print, with silhouette accents.
