Disco Ball Party Decor

You know how sometimes, people say “Let’s host a summer luau party” and a lot of the time the initial reaction is “EEEHHHH” because it’s been SO commercialized and become less and less authentic, and incredibly predicable and cheesy? I think the poor disco ball has also waltzed into that arena. It’s hard to work with disco balls and make them look high end. The proportions, proper lighting, and necessary ambiance needed to really pull them off is hard to do. Then there are the other questions that come up, such as what type of party is this? Is it a neon party themed? Or just disco balls? Can you even use disco balls without other decor?

This week I’ve put together a disco ball party decor ideas board to help navigate and inspire your inner decorator. I think the key is to work with lots of quantities, you can’t just have one big disco ball over the dance floor, and to work with lots of different sizes. There is a reason people are fascinated with the disco ball; it’s just so shiny! So to keep the focus where it should be, I’ve opted to make the focal “color”, if you will, white. It’s not really a focus, but it’s what everyone else will be seeing in the areas not touched by the disco ball decor. Plus, white is an excellent background to make the disco ball effects pop on!

Here’s what I had in mind for my disco ball party decor:

Starry Night Sparkler Wedding

Picture a magical evening wedding under the stars: twinkling lights draping down from a massive oak tree, suspended over the place where you and your loved ones are gathered to witness your wedding ceremony…..sparklers illuminate your reception, taking focus in your centerpieces, your cake, your send off, and even your photo opps. That’s what I envisioned when putting together this starry night sparkler wedding idea board. Something magical, something different, and something truly memorable. I think this week’s wedding inspiration board captures those things and so much more. Here’s what I had in mind:

Crystals and Pearls: Seaside – Lux Wedding Inspiration

Can beach wedding be luxurious?

Oh yes, yes they can.

This week’s wedding idea board is not your ordinary seaside wedding. Oh no. This is glam to the max! Dripping pearls, flowy white silk, and dazzling crystals are the critical components necessary for this seaside wedding inspiration.

I’m thinking a late afternoon wedding ceremony would be perfect for catching all of the available sunshine for optimal sparkles, plus making for some fantastic photos. You can never go wrong with wedding photos on the beach!

Champagne, Metallic, and Pearl Wedding Ideas

One of the best sounds at a wedding is the sound of champagne glasses clinking. There’s always a light hearted laugh following and some sort of toasting happening in the background. Just thinking about that inspired today’s wedding inspiration board. I’ve envisioned lots of mixed metallic accents with just enough pearl decoration to bring a sense of sophistication to this wedding, without being too formal.

Glitzy Girls Night In {for Halloween}

Halloween on any other day of the week but Saturday (and maybe Friday) is a total bore don’t you think? All of the fun dressing up and going up and generally creating mischief either get completely cancelled or minimized to next to nothing. I remember it being weird going trick or treating late one night, then having to be in school bright and early the next morning – complete fun kill!

Since Halloween is on kind of an awkward day this year, I figured I’d share this fun idea with you:

How about hosting a glitzy girl’s night in for Halloween (at least mid-week Halloween)? Have fun, stay in, and catch up with your girls. Maybe pamper yourself before the upcoming weekend festivities?

Nothing too crazy is required for this little get together. A few sparkly décor pieces and some fun cocktails to sip on and you are good to go! Though I think it’s safe to say sweets are always a good idea.
