Outdoor Summer Wedding in Shades of Purple

If I see another “rustic burlap” wedding tutorial I may just give up going on Pinterest.

Hahaha, that’s a lie. I’m addicted to Pinterest. I can never give that up.

But in all seriousness, the “rustic burlap” wedding trend bores me. I don’t respond positively to brown (or tan, if that’s what it is) mesh-y material just to get that country vibe.

When I think country, I think fresh produce, beautiful wild flowers, good food, and comfortable with curtains blowing in the breeze. And I think that country can be done well. Beautifully even. It could look delicate and put together, and not look hodgepodge and craft time gone wrong. That’s the inspiration for this week’s wedding idea board. A simply beautiful country wedding.

Here’s what I had for this breezy outdoor wedding:

How do you stay cool at a summer wedding?

Colorful Summer Dinner Party

Colorful, warm, inviting, and delicious. All are the words that come to mind when I was developing this colorful summer dinner party. I envision a group of friends, gathering around the grill near the pool. Great tasting food fresh off the grill is served alongside sweet and refreshing cold drinks. Bright pops of color decorate the backyard and bring a new burst of life to the already green and vibrant area.

An eclectic, mix and match table with lots of bright summer hues and textures await guests, and sets the tone for a great evening.

Here’s a snippet of what I had in mind:

Do you have a favorite summertime dish? What is it?

Green + Cream – Summer Bridal Shower

Picture this:

It’s a warm, sunny Saturday. Late in the morning, and the sun is still out and shinning bright. You’re headed to a bridal shower for one of your girlfriends. She’s feminine but not into the super girly red and pink flowers galore. She’s sophisticated and fresh at the same time. She loves mixing old with new.

You arrive, and the décor her maid of honor has put together is perfect for her. Light gold accents, with fresh crisp green, and touches of soft cream set the tone. Cute tea sandwiches are all laid out, with yummy peach pastries and chilled champagne nearby. Little arrangements of cream roses are spread throughout the room. The sun is shining in through big open windows.

Glow in the Dark Kids Birthday Party Ideas

Is it hot out where you are? It’s getting hot here! Warm summer nights are really heating up around here, especially as our daytime temperatures are reaching triple digits. Those high heat numbers during the day can be somewhat of a deterrent for outdoor kid’s parties. It’s hot, you’re sweating, it’s hard to stay hydrated and keep up your energy levels.

So why not throw an overnight kids birthday party with a glow in the dark theme? Grab a few black lights and tidy up your backyard, and get ready for a good time! There are lots of great ideas out there. Here’s what I had in mind:

Colorful Paper Based Wedding

I’m beginning to think I may be addicted to Pinterest.

Ok, I’m lying: I AM addicted to Pinterest.

There is just so much amazing inspiration on there; I doubt I’ll ever be able to see it all! If you enjoy pinning party and wedding inspiration as much as I do, you should come follow my boards.

This week’s wedding inspiration board was put into motion by this colorful paper based wedding arch I spotted on Pinterest. I love the use of untraditional materials and themes in weddings, don’t you?

Paper is one of those elements that can be super cheap to use, but unbelievably sensitive and time consuming to make look picture perfect.

That being said, it is SO easy to incorporate any color combination you want for a wedding or party. This week: I took on more of a colorful palette then I’d normally go with. I think it works, what do you think?

Summertime Party: Blueberry and Peach Baby Shower

Summertime! It’s what inspired this week’s inspiration board. I was browsing Pinterest, and came by this incredible looking summertime peach and blueberry pie. It looked DEVINE!

Those are normally some of my favorite summer fruits, but it had never really occurred to me to mix the flavors, which got me thinking about the color combination of dark blue and peach….. Before you knew it, I decided that was going to be my theme for this week’s board. (I’ve also included it in the idea board below!)

These would be such fabulous colors to use at a summertime bridal or baby shower. Plus, you can do double duty on buying the produce fresh for eating, but also incorporate it into your décor. Here’s what I had in mind:

What is your favorite fruit of summer?

Beach Themed {Poolside} Birthday Party

You know what’s NOT fun? Back to school anything. Every year it seems like kids summers are getting shorter and shorter. This year I saw “back to school” ads as early as June! Some kids are still IN school in June. That is just crazy. I ask you, what is the world coming to?

So what does that have to do with anything? Well, moral of the story is we need to help make summer last! I’d make it a national campaign if I had the funding…… Now I get it, not everyone lives beach side, or has beach worthy weather year round, I get it I do. BUT if the weather is right, I think you could host a beach themed birthday party (or end of summer party) up through August, maybe even early September. And why shouldn’t you really? Think of it as a grand finale, a final sunset if you will, to summer.

Here is my mood board for hosting a party such as this:
