Snowman Birthday Party Ideas

Are you nice and cozy and warm?  As I write this I am, but I know January in Florida is some of our coldest time of the year.  In fact, I’m pretty sure it is colder now then it was around Christmas.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the “snow cold”, just “Florida cold” here, so we don’t get to make snowmen any time of the year, much less after Christmas. One of my wishes as a kid was to have a snowman birthday party. I thought that should be the inspiration for this week’s idea board. So without further ado:

A New Year’s Eve Party in Black and Gold {with a hint of stars}

Happy New Year!

Did you have fun last night? I hope so!

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet, but I wanted to share with you one of my “someday” party ideas for my own home. I would LOVE to host a glitz, black and gold New Year’s Eve party with lots of shimmery little star accents.

Here’s what I have in mind:

Christmas Morning Brunch Ideas {with an ornament theme}

Merry Christmas!

Are you a morning person usually? Or do you just make the exception one day out of the year? If you can pull yourself out of bed before noon, you’re likely able to handle hosting a Christmas brunch.

To me, Christmas brunch is supposed to be relaxed and laid back. Nothing too stressful, just enjoying the company of family and friends. But there are a few things that you can do to make you Christmas brunch EXTRA special, especially if you have children.

Here is my idea for a Christmas morning brunch, with an ornament theme to it:

Ideas for Hosting Your Own Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

You know what you should do this weekend? Throw a little holiday party for you and your friends. Nothing serious, just a fun, spur of the moment ugly sweater party! Why not? They are easy to get (or make) and don’t need a lot of prepping and planning.

On top of the visual inspiration you’ll find below, here are some helpful ideas to hosting a successful ugly (or tacky) sweater Christmas party:

  • Have lots of holiday music on hand. Preferably livelier, upbeat songs.
  • Have refreshments on hand. They don’t necessarily have to be filled with alcohol, but it can’t hurt. People will likely feel a little uncomfortable knowingly wearing a ridiculous sweater out, so help get them feeling a little more relaxed!
  • Have back up ridiculous Christmas hats or vests on hand for those who don’t come as prepared as others…there is always one!
  • Remember the ridiculous looks of the night by having an equally ridiculous photo booth area.
  • Let people know you are having a little contest for the most outrageously tacky sweater. A small prize will do. Caution: this will almost certainly encourage some of your friends to get their game faces on and go all out with their party looks. You’ve been warned.

And without further ado, a visual inspiration board for a fun, ugly sweater Christmas party:

Cobalt Blue + Gold Holiday Dinner Party

Are you feeling abundantly dosed in Christmas yet?

I swear everywhere I turn there is a red and green Christmas tree covered in glitter. And trust me, I’m a HUGE fan of glitter, but I am a little bored with the red and green. I know, I know, they are the “traditional” Christmas colors.

But answer me honestly; have you really NEVER gotten just the tiniest drop of annoyance seeing red and green everywhere? Something tells me you likely had at one point or another.

Today I wanted to share with you some inspiration for those of you potentially hosting your own dinner party this holiday season. Why not consider a nice cobalt blue and bright yellow gold? They mix up the traditional holiday décor so well, and transition beautifully into New Year’s celebrations.

HOT HOT HOT Pink {wedding inspiration}

Picture yourself in south Florida, where it is still in the 80s, the beach is perfect for an after dinner stroll. It’s cool in the evenings, but nothing a light jacket can’t handle.

This wedding inspiration board is for that couple wanted to say their “I Do’s” in south Florida, and want to embrace the bright and modern trends that go so well there.

Black + White +Damask Engagement Party Ideas

Remember this cute Halloween costume party I shared a few weeks ago?

I really loved the silhouette accents. I thought for a costume party, silhouettes would be fantastic because they would be adorable décor, but would also not take away from the decked out, dressed up guests. Win-win.

But I got to thinking; you know who else would probably appreciate a party like this? Engaged couples! Think about it, they are there to celebrate their engagement with family and friends, but they still want a festive and decorated vibe.

For this week’s inspiration board, I went with black and white damask print, with silhouette accents.

Pretty in Pink {wedding inspiration}

Are you a girlie girl?

I generally wouldn’t consider myself to be the traditional girlie girl. I just don’t usually go for those traditional pink and floral-y things that in usually associated with the “girlie girl” persona. But for some reason, I really was inspired by some of the soft pink and floral wedding accents I had stumbled upon while browsing Pinterest the other day.

Normally, I tend to shy away from pink weddings because honestly, it often feels like (at least to me) like the groom had nothing to do with any of the wedding and that is not really how it should be. Weddings are supposed to be about the couple as a team, and cater to both of them, not just the bride.

But sometimes the groom is open to anything and often indifferent about what colors or décor is involved. Each couple is different.

So channel your inner feminine side and enjoy the soft pinks and floral details of this Pretty in Pink wedding idea board:

Give {glittery} Thanks

Have you noticed most stores are pretty much skipping thanksgiving décor and going straight to Christmas everything? Well I have!

And while I’m all for Christmas décor, (it is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for) it kind of seems that Thanksgiving gets the short end of the décor stick.

This week I am sharing with you an inspiration board for your thanksgiving 2013 table. I’m obviously a huge fan of glitter anything, but I really love the idea of having a sparkly thanksgiving table. While the traditional orange and tan and yellows are great, they can get a little boring year after year. Plus, if you shop smart, you can get a TON of post-Halloween pumpkins and décor super cheap, and glitter them up yourself to save a bundle.

Give {glittery} Thanks
