Icy Winter Wonderland Wedding

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? I am. In fact I HAVE been for more years then I can remember! In my defense though, I do live in Florida, and it’s going to be 83 several days this week. I can dream can’t I?

And every few days, I swear this image pops up in my Pinterest feed:

Now I know that is not NORMALLY what it looks like when it snows, but in my head it does. To tell you the truth, I’ve never seen snow. Certainly never saw it fall from the sky. But I will, someday!

In the meantime, that image was the inspiration for this week’s idea board. I wanted to create a fantasy winter wonderland themed wedding. So without further ado, this is my interpretation of it:

To me, the white and blues together are wonderful. And the blue just makes it feel that much more icy and frosty, don’t you think?

HOT HOT HOT Pink {wedding inspiration}

Picture yourself in south Florida, where it is still in the 80s, the beach is perfect for an after dinner stroll. It’s cool in the evenings, but nothing a light jacket can’t handle.

This wedding inspiration board is for that couple wanted to say their “I Do’s” in south Florida, and want to embrace the bright and modern trends that go so well there.

Black + White +Damask Engagement Party Ideas

Remember this cute Halloween costume party I shared a few weeks ago?

I really loved the silhouette accents. I thought for a costume party, silhouettes would be fantastic because they would be adorable décor, but would also not take away from the decked out, dressed up guests. Win-win.

But I got to thinking; you know who else would probably appreciate a party like this? Engaged couples! Think about it, they are there to celebrate their engagement with family and friends, but they still want a festive and decorated vibe.

For this week’s inspiration board, I went with black and white damask print, with silhouette accents.

Pretty in Pink {wedding inspiration}

Are you a girlie girl?

I generally wouldn’t consider myself to be the traditional girlie girl. I just don’t usually go for those traditional pink and floral-y things that in usually associated with the “girlie girl” persona. But for some reason, I really was inspired by some of the soft pink and floral wedding accents I had stumbled upon while browsing Pinterest the other day.

Normally, I tend to shy away from pink weddings because honestly, it often feels like (at least to me) like the groom had nothing to do with any of the wedding and that is not really how it should be. Weddings are supposed to be about the couple as a team, and cater to both of them, not just the bride.

But sometimes the groom is open to anything and often indifferent about what colors or décor is involved. Each couple is different.

So channel your inner feminine side and enjoy the soft pinks and floral details of this Pretty in Pink wedding idea board:

Cute Candy Themed Birthday Party Ideas

Can you imagine a life without candy? Yeah, me either.

It’s especially difficult to envision with all of the candy-lined shelves at what seems like pretty much every store on every corner, with Halloween just days away.

Having said that, what ever happened to the CUTE candy?

Doesn’t it seem like everything on the shelves is plastered with labels and brand names, etc.? What ever happened to that cutesy, bright and colorful, Willy Wonka type candy? THAT is the inspiration for this week’s board. A cute candy birthday party for kids of all ages!

Costumes + Cocktails Halloween Party {with silhouette accents}

Hello hello!

I’ll let you in on a little secret: Halloween reminds me of my biggest weakness for my creative endeavors – creepy stuff.

And you know what? That is ok. When the thought first occurred to me, I was like, “oh no, maybe I’m not the awesome and talented individual that I thought I was.” In pretty much every other situation, if you give me some starting loose ideas for an event and I will RUN with it and come up with a million and a half amazing ideas for it. EXCEPT for the creepy stuff. I don’t personally watch horror movies, I’ve never been to any haunted mansions, or scare parks, and I’m totally ok with that.

At one point, I thought that Halloween was just useless for me since I wasn’t really “into” the scary scene. But as it turns out there are TONS of other avenues! So I will be continuing to share with you MY interpretations and ideas for not-so-scary Halloween party ideas.

This week’s inspiration board is for a Costumes and Cocktails party. Simple, easy and NOT creepy, woot!

Costumes + Cocktails Halloween Party {with silhouette accents}

Costumes + Cocktails Halloween Party {with silhouette accents}

I kept the focus of the details on black silhouettes. The reasoning behind this is to have décor without having HEAVY décor, and that way, when everyone comes dressed up in smashing costumes, the silhouettes will serve as excellent accents, and keep the focus on your guests and their costumes.

Key elements for this type of party:

  • Booze  – and lots of it! Try finding 2-3 signature drinks that have a Halloween twist.
  • Music – there are a bajillion (that many!) Halloween cd’s out there. Theme music is a must for this type of party.
  • Lighting – keep it on “low glow” for optimal impact. There’s nothing in the shadows, right?

Little Monster Bash Ideas

Boo!

Happy October! I’m so excited it’s October aren’t you? Not so much because I’m a Halloween fan or anything, but more because my holiday decorating whims are a little more justified. The stores near me have already had their fully set up and decorated CHRISTMAS TREES on display for several weeks now….WHY?! I have no idea why, but whatever, they are up.

Today’s inspiration board is for those of you with little monsters of your own. I thought hosting a “monster bash” for the little ones would be soo adorable! I could just imagine a room full of cute little monsters running around….Anyways, staying focused!

I think this would be a wonderful theme for a birthday celebration, or just a traditional Halloween party. But honestly, as a grown adult I would totally go to a cute-sy monster bash! Wouldn’t you?

Eggplant Purple and Flowers Wedding Ideas

I feel pretty, oh so pretty…….

Pretty would be the one word description to explain the direction I was going in when putting this design board together for you. I didn’t want anything TOO girlie, but I still wanted the wedding to be elegant with a light touch of femininity with all of the flowers.

Personally, I really love that guys are getting out of the “black, blue white and grey” color mentality for their wardrobes and trying something new with colors, but that is a whole other topic!

For this particular wedding, I envision it most likely happening in an enchanted garden, late summer or early fall. Maybe with some twinkle lights… Yeah, definitely add some twinkle lights. Twinkle lights make everything better!

Wine and Cheese Birthday Party Ideas

Happy Birthday toooooo youuuuu!

Ok, well maybe it is not ACTUALLY your birthday. Yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t start dropping hints now! This week’s party inspiration is all about wine and cheese, and how you can turn them into an entire birthday bash.

This party is perfect for foodies, or people you want to throw a surprise bash for, but know they won’t really like.

Key elements for this event:

  • Tons of selection – this goes for wine AND cheeses! Don’t just get what you like, everyone’s gotta eat!
  • Other options – not everything can be wine and cheese, there is always someone who doesn’t like it, and see above about selection.
  • Light music – this is going to be a mix and mingle event (more than likely) so don’t let there be any awkward silence. Pandora can help you find some light background music if you need a last minute fix.

If you are looking for pairing ideas or just a lite of basic wines and cheeses to choose from, check out my board on Pinterest devoted specifically to Wine & Cheese Parties. I’ve got several good charts and infographics that will likely help you out when deciding what to pick up.
