Ideas for National Chocolate Cake Day for Two….with wine.

What are the odds, that not only is today both Wine Wednesday AND National Chocolate Cake Day? As if we needed a reason to consume either! This year they both line up perfectly into one glorious day. Maybe it’s because it’s getting close to Valentine’s Day, or maybe I’m a fan of date nights that involve a good red wine and a luscious cake, but I feel like this week’s idea board should be an ever-so-lightly romantic evening for two. And you guessed it: chocolate cake and wine are on the menu. Here’s what I had in mind:

Did you know that today is Penguin Awareness Day? According to a few places, January 20th is Penguin Awareness Day. So to celebrate the best way that I know I can, I thought I’d make penguins the theme of this week’s party board!

Since we are having a cold front (if that’s what you want to call mid-fifties in Florida), I thought I’d do a cute, stylized penguin party that is perfect for kids with winter birthdays. Do you have someone in your family that has a milestone anniversary or birthday coming up, who doesn’t really need anything in regards to presents, doesn’t really want anything in particular, but you still want to do something special for them?

I’m going through that right now. I’ve been doing my darndest to think of something, but really there is not much in way of options. Having said all that, I think the effort and time of putting together something special and unique, like this week’s inspiration board shares, is a great idea. This week I knew exactly what I wanted to create when I sat down to make this week’s party idea board. I wanted something that would be fun for kids, boys and girls, and would be a hit this summer. I came up with the idea of having a mer-people (that’s mermaids and mermen) inspired party. Naturally, it would be fantastic if this was based around a beach location, but I think a pool party would be just as fun.

Extravagant Summer Wedding in Green Florals

This luxurious summer wedding I’ve dreamed up is one that I consider to be the top of the modern wedding vibe, but still keeps elegance and wow factors at the peak of your mind throughout the event.

This wedding not only has a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, with linens dramatically draped over the alter, but it also has 3 other stops it takes the guests to. After the ceremony – the guests head indoors for a cocktail hour, welcomed as they walk through the doors by strands of hanging orchids. After cocktail hour, they move out to a garden in a complete oasis of green. Green florals and silks are cascading and covering every inch of your visual field. No area is left bare. After a scrumptious meal, the music of a local band in the background, and good conversation of tablemates, it’s time for guests to move into the tent for the party to continue into the night! This tent has been transformed into the ultimate custom party lounge, complete with bars, desserts, lounge areas, and of course the hottest music played over a dance floor complete with club lighting.

It’s later in the day – the sun is still shining. The guests are starting to arrive, and the music is the background to great conversation. The drinks are cold and the aromas of sensational food are sifting through the air. The mood is light and upbeat, with the sun shining in through the windows. A bottle of champagne is popped and the toasts for the guest of honor start.

Ahhhhh yes. The smell of sugar.

You know what I’m talking about. At some point in your life you’ve opened up a bag of your favorite sweet treat and inhaled the sugary scent that was released. And you totally loved it. I would go so far as to say you even had a smile on your face after.

A lot of mommy-to-be ladies out there share a similar smile, for obviously more legitimate reasons – I mean they are making a tiny human after all – but they still are happy and smiling and full of positivity.

Pale Pink Rose Baby Shower

I often wonder if I would do well living in a climate other than Florida. We have pretty much one season: summer. Sometimes it’s a little cooler, but only for short bursts of time, and even then we could still lay out and get sun if we wanted to. We never really have that “Spring” revival of color. Everything is green year round and always growing.

For whatever reason I can’t help to think this week’s idea board would do exceedingly well in a setting that was actually still getting out of winter. Somewhere where this pale pink would really pop. You can’t really go wrong with pale pink roses for a baby shower, especially not this time of year.
