Simple Succulent Event Decor Ideas

You know the saying “sometimes less is more”? I so rarely agree with it, but this week I make the exception, and agree less can be more. When I’m putting together an event decor concept board, I love to design event concepts that are rich and dynamic. Something that will continually wow guests as the event unfolds, from hidden elements mixed into perimeter decor, to thoughtful additions in the place settings. I’m the first one to advocate for bold colors and wild prints, textures everywhere with layers of details.

But you know what? Something just hit me this week, swaying me towards a more simple design direction. Make no mistake, it may be simple in concept, but there are still plenty of unique and specific design elements at play here in this simple succulent event decor ideas board. While there may not be as many layers and targeted wow features, there is still a continuity of design here that resonates beautifully throughout.

Where I would normally go all out with a high impact entrance, I went for a white will with strategically placed air plants. Where normally a focal bar would sit, I switched gears and went for a succulents arranging bar, where theoretically guests could create their own little arrangements and take them home.  It would be fantastic to have a horticulturist on site to help recommend combinations and placements, and give guests care tips for their new plants. The table that I normally love covered with linens and colors and perfect silverware with matching stemware, is simple neutrals with succulent accents. Even the lounge is a clean white, with sandy floors and pillar candles.

I could see these simple succulent event decor ideas working from events such as weddings, to luncheons, and even social events. The succulents are powerful enough to be the focus of the event decor, but not so dominating that they couldn’t be made the second focus of the event, so there would be room for whatever the message or goal of the event was.

Spring Wedding at a Winery

I’m told that spring “officially” starts on March 20th, but I have a hard time with that date. You see, as a Floridian, our seasons, if we are even going to call them that, are limited, short lived – and rather sporadic. Spring is an occasional day that it’s in the 70’s. And I think so far this year, we are up to maybe 5 of those days, spread out and often followed by a week of low 80s. So the concept of spring, with its new life bringing and bright blossoming flowers, is a bit far-fetched sounding for this part of the world. Everything is always green here. Even when we are low on our rain quotas, the sun still shines and the palm trees just live on.

So to a native Floridian, the idea of spring is not so much the rebirth of nature. It’s more about savoring those few, previous days that bring slightly cooler temperatures, and lower humidity rates. Simple, easy, and yet so hard to come by. It’s a fairly well kept secret that Florida has a number of wineries in its growing wealth of attractions. Snagging one of the beautiful properties on a sunny spring day would make for a perfect wedding setting. Letting the natural green landscape that Florida provides be the highlight of the decor, with a few wine themed accents, and simple spring flower accents, you’ve got all the makings to a natural-elegance inspired outdoor wedding. Why not have a spring wedding at a winery?

Enchantment Under The Shimmery Sea Wedding Inspiration

I am so pleased to be sharing the first wedding and event inspiration board with you here on Unique Pastiche Events!

My goal is to share at least one new inspiration board with you each week. Don’t worry, they won’t all be weddings. In fact, I plan on doing everything from weddings, to dinner parties, high end lux events to DIY based soirees, plus so much more!

Since we are still getting to know each other, and this is the first inspiration post I’ve shared here, I’ll give you an overview of how it works:

Each week I select a type of event and a theme. From there I develop a vision in my mind of what would make that particular occasion unique, memorable, and exciting for both the host and the guests. The next part is my favorite: image sourcing! I scour my Pinterest boards and the net to find various elements that would really help make up the event. Anything and everything from lighting, beautiful tablescapes, invitations, linens, party favors….you name it and I am probably looking for it! I try and find the images that best represent my vision, and combine them into one idea board (or a mood board for some people).

After that is all done, you get to see my finished inspiration board right here on the blog, along with a little summary of my vision, and of course all of the links that I could find to the images.

Now that we’ve gotten all of that out of the way….let’s get on to this week’s design.

Enchantment Under The Shimmery Sea Wedding Inspiration

Enchantment Under The Shimmery Sea Wedding Inspiration by Unique Pastiche Events

This week my inspiration challenge was to create a spectacular nighttime wedding. The theme would be “Enchantment Under The Shimmery Sea”, complete with a live band of course! It would be only natural to try and host this wedding at an aquarium if possible, but this design could be achieved in most ballrooms with the right team. A themed photo booth area is a must for this type of event, as well as the lighting. Lighting can make or break this type of wedding!
