Navy Blue and Sunshine Yellow Summer Soiree Ideas

Some things just go together, like chocolate and peanut butter, or salt and pepper. In a not so foody sense, so does blue and yellow. One of my most favorite color combinations for the summer in blue and yellow, because I find that it tends to be greatly underused. It can be feminine or masculine, formal or informal, but still retain a quality to it that makes it appropriate to be used for guests of honor of all ages. It’s all about how you incorporate the colors!

Texture is always at the top of my mind when I am putting together this party idea boards, so when I was dreaming up this navy blue and sunshine yellow summer soiree ideas board, it was important to me to figure out where the texture and dimension would be. For this particular event, I opted to have the smaller scale texture double as the yellow, as lots of fresh sunshine yellow flowers are used to run down the table and make perfect centerpieces and room decor. To help create a larger sense of texture, but also integrate the navy blue, I decided to use oversized tissue paper pompoms that included yellow, navy blue, but also some neutrals such as gray and white via additional paper lanterns.

With such a colorful table full of contrast, and a well decorated dessert spread, it’s easy to host this summer soiree party, without it looking too nautical or themed. Here’s what I had in mind for this navy blue and sunshine yellow summer soiree:

Modern Blue Pumpkin Thanksgiving Decor Ideas – in Light Blue and Navy Blue

With Halloween just behind us, and Thanksgiving just a few short weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about what your Thanksgiving dinner is going to look like. If you are looking to mix up the traditional rustic orange color palette and go for something more modern, you’ll love the Thanksgiving party decor idea board I have put together for this week. Shades of light blue, mixed with a dark navy blue and hints of taupe and ivory combine to create this modern Thanksgiving dinner styling. To me, having lots of pumpkins in various sizes and colors help make this a cohesive look. I’d love to see the buffet have a few pops of blue or a gentle metallic accent, perhaps in the plates. To add just a touch of freshness, the pumpkin succulent planters have been incorporated. A fun dessert display is always in good taste, and this hanging dessert buffet stays within the color palette, but brings that modern touch with its clean lines. Beyond Thanksgiving, this is a great concept for transitioning from the end of summer into the fall season.

Rustic Sunflower and Navy Country Sunset Reception

“Never look directly at the sun. Instead, look at the sunflower.” This quote resonates seamlessly with this week’s wedding and party idea board. Picture a rustic country soiree, with lots of lanterns filled with candles, and vibrant sunflowers everywhere you look. Hints of navy help balance out the bright yellows in the sunflowers, and add pops of color to the rustic elements.

I’d love to see this summer celebration take place outside on a beautiful country property, perhaps with rolling hills and a vintage barn a little off in the distance.  If you felt so compelled to, this party idea board could easily transform into a rustic country wedding filled with the same sunflowers and navy blue elements. A natural branch altar adorned with sunflowers and navy ribbons would be all you need to add. And I’ll be the first to say I’m not normally one to choose country anything, but sunflowers have always been a favorite of mine. They have such a happy energy that they seem to radiate out, naturally making them the perfect flower to be at the center of this event design. I can only imagine what the ambiance would be like after the sun sets, as the candles are all flickering and enhancing the glow of the sunflowers that are everywhere you look. I bet it would be magical!

It’s Written in the Stars – Astronomy Themed Wedding

A few weeks ago I shared a party idea board for an under the stars backyard movie night. If you missed it, check it out here.

I absolutely loved the theme of the party, and just couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful a wedding in a science museum or planetarium would be. Something under the stars, but without the bugs and heat. That was all I needed for inspiration – the next thing I knew I had found some fabulous inspirational images and compiled them into this idea board:

Navy, Mint, Peach + Gold Bridal Shower

Hello!

This week is all about colors! Not just bright and bold, but those sought after spring tones. I’m lucky to not have any sort of serious winter season here in Florida, but still appreciate spring themed parties. We tend to enjoy the few days out of the year it is not excessively hot and humid out.

This week I’m introducing you to a navy, mint and peach bridal shower, with the slightest hint of gold mixed in.

I really think the navy with a touch of gold helps welcome the fresh mint and peach tones into this inspiration board theme. I’m loving this color scheme as a baby shower, or bridal shower, but really think it could be used in a ton of functions. Hellloooo ladies luncheon!

Here’s what I’m thinking:

How do you start transitioning spring colors into your winter wardrobe?

Navy, Polka Dot and Pearl Wedding

Picture this: It’s the end of summer. You are at a lakeside country club; the sun is getting ready to set for the evening. The “I Dos” are said near a rustic dock, which is perfect for pictures after.  Your favorite vintage car is sitting out front, ready for your grand exit later that evening.

After the ceremony you walk into the banquet room at the country club and see pearly white and polka dot accents throughout the room, and a band is already playing in the background.

I’ve got a retro-y throw back wedding in mind for this event. Retro, but modern. I was trying to capture a little bit of the fifties feeling with this week’s inspiration board. A modern pearl finish cake, a little bit of pearly decorations with some polka dots thrown in for accents.

Possibly my most favorite part of this wedding would be the end. Well not the end of it, but towards the end of the reception. I LOVE the after dinner cordials bar. Set up with the right liquors, fresh hot coffee and hot chocolate, and those chocolate mint stirring sticks everyone loves. How could you not enjoy that?  Anyways, less talking more pictures!
