14 Concrete Block Centerpieces for Any Event

Steampunk may be falling out of style on Pinterest, but the industrial chic revolution is really starting to pick up in the weddings and party decor categories. Everyone is looking for interesting plays on mixing softness with the rough edges of industrial decor. I have found a ton of great ideas this year, and have been pinning them as I find them HERE. I’ve even shared several party and wedding ideas boards with an industrial flair to them, you can see those HERE.

Centerpiece are a tricky element in the industrial event decor scene. You don’t want too many flowers, as that can take away from the desired look, but then what do you do? It’s already hard enough to come up with centerpiece with no floral at all, that aren’t just boring regular candles. So what’s a girl to do?

Why not incorporate some concrete blocks into your decor? I’ve put together 14 of my favorite cement block centerpieces. From simple to layered, I think you’ll find at least one that you will like. Here are my top 14 concrete block centerpiece ideas:

Manicured Garden Soiree Ideas

I’m not saying this because green is my favorite color, I’m saying it because it’s true: green is an amazing color. Not just for events, though that is true too, but for all sorts of decor. Green is one of those few colors that is good year round, any season. It’s welcomed at just about every holiday, from a lively bright green to a dark and rich emerald green. It can soften and lighten a room, or intensify and enrich the space it is in. Shades of green have such a wide range of effects, it’s no wonder that green is always in style and often used at events.

This week I thought I would try to re-envision on of my earliest party idea boards, still found on my other blog, A Sparkly Life for Me (you can see the original idea board HERE). Partially inducing excitement, and the other part a bit of cringing (why the need for balloons?!), I like to look back and see what fresh new twists I could come up with on previous concepts. Plus, I think I’m on a green kick at the moment!

I thought I’d start with keeping that brilliant emerald green and gold concept from my original challenge, transforming it into a manicured garden soiree, still elevated, still formal, but with the emphasis on the emerald green. The gold, now with mirrors, would be subtle but well placed in strategic points throughout the decor. Boxwood hedges, cubes, arrangements, and topiary would be the defining decor at this event.

Here’s what I had in mind for this manicured garden party decor:

Industrial Glam Party in Copper and White

You know what is delicious? A Moscow Mule!

I have been thoroughly enjoying this new trend. The drink itself – goes down so smooth, there is plenty of variation options out there so you never get tired of it, but you know what I love too? The mug! It’s got just enough shimmer to it, but could be held by men and women alike without fear of judgment. It’s easy to hold, and not a pain to walk around a busy room with. And bonus points: the copper mugs are not breakable.

My mind can’t help but wonder if the drink/mug combo became trendy because of its two winning elements, or if it caught on so well because the industrial themed slash steampunk inspired party and wedding is on the rise? Referencing industrial age design, event planners, decorators, and brides have been making their own twists on this theme for the last few years, with the concept gaining lots of momentum.

I have to suspect, that a huge part of the reason for this momentum gain is the sheer flexibility and scalability the steampunk and industrial theme allows for. It can be very vintage and grunge inspired, or it can be very modern and clean. It could be used for corporate decor, weddings, events for men or women, day or night, and really, any season. Check out some of the cool pins I’ve saved that are industrial themed or steampunk inspired.

For this week’s industrial glam party in copper and white idea board, I’ve chosen to go a more modern route, inspired by the Moscow Mule mug, with touches of nature brought in through small clusters of fresh foliage and greenery accents. In my head, this industrial glam themed event is for an evening corporate dinner, but I could just as easily see it transitioned over to a more social event, like a wedding reception.

The major elements to this party theme are:

  • Copper mugs and accents
  • Edison bulb lighting
  • Small clusters of fresh green foliage

Here’s what I had in mind:

9 Ways to Include Greenery in Corporate Events – 2017 Pantone Color of the Year

This week, we welcome Greenery, the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year to our growing collection of event inspiration. I am over the moon with excitement about the chosen Color of the Year. While I tried my best to embrace last year’s duo colors of the year, I really found that those soft hues just do not radiate with me as much as I’d have liked them to. This year, the game has changed. Not only is green my favorite color, but it is such a  fresh and clean hue. The team at Pantone working on the Color of the Year nailed it this year.

This invigorating and modern color, Greenery, is a fitting color to introduce to your upcoming corporate events. It’s neutral, but lively. Modern and clean. Most importantly, it is easy to incorporate into your events. Of course, Greenery is easily incorporated via natural foliage and ferns. But there are so many other ways to use this great color! From green flowers, to seating, to accent colors, lighting, and perimeter decor, it’s easier than you would think to bring this pop of life in to any event scenario. To help get your event decor ideas flowing, I’ve put together 9 ways to include Greenery in your corporate events:
