It’s always around this time of year there is a burst of energy, directed at the planning the next season of afternoon luncheons or fundraisers galas. Everyone seems ready to take on their next challenge and plan big grand events. Unfortunately, during this excitement and period of motivation, I often think many event designers and planners seem to think so little of their event decor and concepts. Is it because they are in such a rush in their excitment to keep the planning train moving on schedule? There have been way too many “Night in New York”, or “Great Gatsby”, or even “Evening in Paris” themed events ever done, and I have to assume part of it is due to rushed deadlines and frustration trying to come up with something new and exciting. With that said, I’d like to challenge planners to come up with new and invigorating concepts, pushing their decor vendors to new creations and designs.

A theme that I think would work particularly great for an afternoon luncheon,  a corporate event, or even a symphony fundraiser gala, would be an elegant sheet music inspired event. Think classical instruments, traditional or vintage washed sheet music. I can honestly say out of the many, many events I’ve been a part of over the years, I’ve never seen one like this. It is elegant, and refined. Unique, and also able to be fitted into a larger concept or branding. What I especially like most about this sheet music party decor, is that it could be done with or without floral elements. With proper instruments, some accent candles, and plenty of sheet music accents, it is possible to pull off this concept, without having a huge floral expense.
