Why do couples get married in the summer?
Well, there are a few reasons: kids are out of school, so families can travel easier, there aren’t as many holidays, so time off isn’t as difficult to get, but from what I can tell, most people get married in the summer because it’s warm out. The weather is nice, there’s no worry of a snowstorm delaying flights and causing road closures. Short of some rain, the summer is logistically a great time to get married.
But the heat! The heat can sometimes be TOO hot. You don’t want to have your guests (or yourself!) covered in sweat before the ceremony even starts. So what to do? You could bring the lush foliage that grows in the summer, inside!
That was the inspiration for this week’s Green with Foliage idea board. Bringing lush, green plants indoors, creating a whole new world inside your standard ballroom, completely transforming it into an exotic garden.
Some key elements to what would really make this theme work:
- Lots and lots of foliage. Mix and match to create texture and dimension.
- Have background music playing while guests wait. Why not find a nature recording of a forest with a babbling brook?
- Specialty green lighting will help amplify the effect. Use green up lighting on walls that can’t be covered otherwise.
